Privacy

This site runs its own lightweight analytics. There are no third-party trackers, no advertising networks, and nothing is stored on your device. Here is exactly what that means.

What I record

When you open a page, my server keeps a single row with the time of the visit, the page path, the country your request came from (provided by Cloudflare), your browser and operating system family (for example Chrome on macOS), and the host of the site that linked you here, if any.

What I do not record

I do not store your IP address, and I do not use cookies. To count returning visitors without keeping anything that identifies you, your IP address and browser user-agent are combined with a secret value held only on the server and run through a one-way hash. The result is a short, opaque visitor id. The hash cannot be reversed to recover your IP, and the same person produces the same id only for as long as that secret is left unchanged.

Why

I use this to see how many people visit, which writing gets read, and to keep the site secure and online. For visitors in the EU and UK, the legal basis is legitimate interest under GDPR Article 6(1)(f).

Retention

Records are automatically deleted after 90 days.
